The canvas used for the work is recycled fire blankets from prison, where Julio taught himself how to paint. The work is stretched and painted with quality acrylic paints and finished with two coats of varnish to protect the painting from dust and UV rays.
The work is unique because of the experience that the artist went through while in that environment where he found his talent and used art to transformed his life and express his thoughts and emotions through that journey.
A prison clothing label tag is attach to the painting at the bottom right hand corner of the stretcher bar, to challenge the perceptions and tags that society in general give to any one that has been incarcerated and that he feels is important to break.
