This necklace is by Sasha Kamen, a Jewellery designer and maker living in London.
"This little fox is cast from an original Victorian charm, which I reworked. I'd spent ages trying to sculpt a tiny fox in wax, but each time I got the nose just right, i discovered I'd squashed the tail in the process... very frustrating! I always love to visit the antique jewellery dealers on the Portobello road, and one of them had a tiny fox charm from about 1860. I bought it, cast it to make a wax version and then adapted his posture and added some texture. So, he's a combination of my work and a long lost jeweller's, which I'm really happy about."
16" chain with an extender to 18" The fox is 1 cm long, nose to tail
The fox is available in Solid 18 carat or 9 carat gold, either rose or yellow gold, rose gold or yellow gold plate, which come on a yellow rolled gold chain, or Sterling silver, on a sterling silver chain.
All my jewellery arrives in a lovely box printed with "Sasha Kamen Fine Handmade Jewellery" and a gift bag, so it's all ready to be a perfect present!
2 Year Guarantee:
I offer a personal guarantee of at least two years on all my jewellery, and longer for solid metal items, but most pieces will last far longer. This covers normal use and wear, provided you care for your pieces. (see care details below) Please contact me directly if you feel your jewellery has developed any defect, and I will do my best to try and help you solve the problem. (many issues can be solved with proper care and cleaning) If that's not possible, please return the item to me for a repair or replacement. Please obtain proof of postage in case the piece gets lost in the post. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a replacement free of charge in the event of jewellery being lost, as there is no way of knowing whether the loss was due to a fault, or just an accident. If you do lose your jewellery, get in touch and I can offer you a discount on a replacement piece.
Materials and production:
All my jewellery is made either with solid sterling silver, gold plated bronze, solid gold or gold filled. Rolled gold, sometimes called Gold Filled is created by a process where a solid sheet of 14 carat gold is heat sealed to an inner core of base metal, creating a strong and durable finish. It's safe for those with allergies, as the gold will not rub off. All gold chains, clasps earrings hooks and posts are made from rolled gold. Silver pieces are solid sterling silver.
Cast pieces are produced in London, - or sometimes Birmingham - in either solid silver, or gold plated pieces are cast in bronze, then hand finished and thickly plated in 2 microns of 22 carat gold. This is very durable, and quite different from many 'throwaway' jewellery pieces, which are simply dipped or flash plated with gold. If over many years of wear, the gold does become thin, I can offer a re - plating service, but this hasn't happened yet... In terms of sustainability, metal is the original recyclable material! Over 30% of all the gold in use in the world is already recycled, and I'm always working with my suppliers to increase the proportion of recycled metal in my jewellery.
